I've installed a wireless router ( with WEP protocol ) which was intended to be used both with wired and wireless connections. However things have changed and the wireless purpose was put aside. I intend to disable this function in the router for security purposes so I've cleaned the ESSID and disabled WEP. Is it disabled ? What should I do? ( It does not have any option of disabling Wireless )

Thanks in advance on this newbie question.

I'd say if in serious doubt, remove the antenna. This should limit the range of any wireless to 10 feet or so.
If the wireless cannot be turned off, leave WEP turned on.

wooglin is right ...what brand/model of router do u have?

Unless the device has an actual "Radio Off" option, I doubt it is truly off. Clearing the ssid is going to effect some devices differanty then others. Some will just assume that thy should return to their default name.
If the radio is not interfering with anything, you could always leave it on, change the WEP (or beter yet WPA if available) to something nice and long, change the SSID to something non-obvious, turn off broadcasting of the SSID, etc.
Maybe someone will come up with some more specific ideas based on your mnodel, I haven't used tat particular one in the past, so I don't know what it has to offer.
