In Word XP, I need to create a combination character, essentially a letter with an arrow over it
->
P

does anyone know anyway to create a compound character between two different characters? This is kind of like ctrl:, character to get the : over the letters but I need to use a different symbol over the letter.

Any ideas? Dean

Yes. I know about Equation. But I was hoping that there was a way to incorporate this into the text more seamlessly than an object as it comes up in this particular text quite often.

Hi Dean,

Here is what you can do:
1. create the combined character using MS Equation.
2. Then select this object,
3. go to Insert - Autotext, choose New
4. give this object a name f.e.: parr (p + arrow)
5. press [OK]

Now when you are in the document you should be able to insert this object by typing parr and pressing [ENTER].

Hope this helps.

Una

Thanks! I'll give that a try.

Have you tried the Field Advance before the arrow? {Advance \l 6 \u 4}
Remembering to {Advance \d 4} following the arrow. If it works for you ... you can always make it and the advances Autocorrect.
