howto add existing disks from old server

Help.... oh great ones.
I have a dying rs6000/250. I connected it to a model 170 with os 5.1 and am unable to mount the drive or see any data. I need to recover the data as the tapes seem to be
corrupt.

You state that you have the /250 connected to a 170. Please explain what you mean by "connected"? Is the /250 bootable and if so can you login via a terminal? If bootable is the /250 connected to a network?
