I've just installed EPO 2.5 on W2K server and am planning to roll out VS 4.51 to all my workstations (w95/98/2K/xp).

I've been trying out on individual machines doing this and have noted that some machines require reboots etc after previous version of VS i.e. (4.0.3 and 4.50) are removed and again when v4.51 is installed.

It became obvious to me that I need to control this tighter as I can't have the workstation suddenly shutting down on my users when they are in the middle of their work etc

Can someone advise on how they set their system up to ensure that any software upgrades are pushed to workstations at specific times.

I am really looking to control this as much as possible as I don't want users continously contacting me to tell me their PC has rebooted.

Also, on some workstations the EpoAgent has been installed and I can tell what AV product is on that machine on others I can't even though I know for certain an AV product is on there, is there any reason why the EpoAgent isn't reporting back the correct information??

Many thanks

The random reboots has everything to do with the MSI version currently running on the workstation. If it's earlier than 1.1 (1.0?), it will require a reboot. If it's 1.2 or higher (dunno the current version), you're ok. This will not ask for a reboot.

... take my advice, I don't use it anyway!

So for example, if the MSI version of VirusScan 4.0.3 or 4.5 is version 1.1 or below it will require a reboot?

I believe 4.5 has MSI 1.1 installed with it already. You can verify by checking the INSTMSI.EXE properties and look at the version number.
