Here are a few how to's I am curious about :
1)How do you install package to a specific directory?
2)How do you watch network traffic on interface qfe3?
3)How do you clear volume information from a solaris volume manager disk?
4)How do you shutdown a Veritas Cluster Server, leaving the
applications running from the command line?
5)How do you speed up processing of a process and all it's child processes?

Thanks in anticipation.

Here is answers to 1 and 2.

Most packages default to directory /opt... But, you can enter another directory prior to installation.. Also make sure the directory exists before installation...

To monitor traffic on interface qfe3 use command: snoop -d qfe3...

I don't mean to disagree Ken, but the answer to 5 is usually "Buy a bigger/faster/better machine."

IMHO

You should also find out where the process is bottlenecked and address that. Disk IO bound? Get faster disks or spread IO out over more than one disk. Memory bound and/or swapping too much? Add more memory. CPU Bound? Optimize the application or buy a faster computer to run it on.
