I have a Netgear fs116 access point switch (16 ports) connected to a 2Wire DSL 4-port modem. An old Windows XP acting as a server is connected to one of the switch ports. I cannot see this server from the other PCs on the network.
A wireless Linksys access point is also connected to the modem.
The PCs can connect to the Internet through ethernet cable or wireless and they can see each other.
In the TC/IP Properties menu on the server PC the IP address is set to 10.0.0.1 rather than automatic. The server workgroup name is set to "macarch" and the folder I want to network is set up as shared. The server can see its own files in Network places.
The Device List in the modem shows an address of 10.0.0.106 for the server and I can ping this address from the modem configuration menu.
I have searched the Internet for help configuring the 2Wire and I suspect that the IP addresses, 10.0.0.xxx, are built in to the modem and I must set it up in bridge mode. If so, how do I do it?
