I have device with DOS as well as network driver installed on it. I want to write a simple program in C that will access a network server and download the exe file and start automatic installation. I would appreciate if you someone can help me out

Goto Find the RFC's which describe either TFTP (Trivial File Transfer Protocol) or FTP (File Transfer Protocol)

There are lots of different implementations of those about, so perhaps searching for source code would be a good step.
