Hi,

I recently inherited a bunch of reports that were developed by other people in the past and I am supposed to spec them out and make documentations about fields that are used, table joins etc. Some reports are very "busy".
How do I know if it uses any subreports or summary fields and which section they are put in, their names and also is there a way to quickly locate their whereabouts on the report? We use Crystal Reports 2008. Thanks a lot.

A subreport looks like any other object on a report, but while fields and formulas have {} around their names, subreports do not. They will basically look like text objects.

Export the report to Report Definition format. The resultant text file should give you what you need.

For Subreports, another way to determine if the exist is to go to Edit => Subreport Links. If there are any they will show up there (and give you the names). To find them on the report canvas, a search (Ctrl + F) for the subreport name will find them.

Hope this helps.

Cheers
Pete
