how to view log-out option in old wtmp log file

Newbie here,
trying to view a old log of wtmp to see when user logged out.
In a sense trying to see in the same format as "last" shows
I tried
who (wtmplogfile) | grep username

but shows logon on only, not the log out time and duration as it does in "last"

What is missing in my command?
Any suggestions welcome

last -f wtmplogfile username
