How to verify that an image file is valid...

I need to be able to verify that an image file is valid before setting the control's picture property to it. Would checking the file's size tell me anything of value in this aspect?

How about using LOADPICTURE() on the file, and trapping the error that will be generated if it is not a valid image?

Mike .... I've tested how the LOADPICTURE function works within the called function in my application... that part works fine. Whether or not the problem my customer is experiencing in the application is due to a bad image file is the other side of the story....
