How to Verify Email Domain 2

Is there an easy way (without having to purchase 3rd party software) to verify an Email domain? I'm currently using vbSendMail.clsSendMail, but it keeps getting stuck on various, seemingly random, domains. It's almost as if it were experiencing a log jam in that it's trying to verify so many domains in a row that the communication gets jammed up.

I've searched the internet but haven't really found what I'm looking for. Sure there are a number of third party apps out there that say they will do it, but I really don't want to have to do that.
