I'm running SCO 3.2v4.2, and need to print through a Windows 2000 server. I've set up my SCO box using 'lpconf', but keep getting the "Status" message - "Waiting for server to come up".
I'm able to ping the win2000 server and all the printers attached from my SCO box.

Anyone have any info that may be helpful??

First, is the Win2k box listening on port 515?

(something like netstat -an on the Win box)

Does the Win printer have a less than 14 character name without spaces?

Did you tell the scobox NOT to use the Extended Protocol. If not, do so.

Is the printer NAME on the SCObox different than the name on windows? I've found that it is helpful and perhaps required under some versions that the names be the same: winprint in both places, for example.

I have heard of people having trouble with Win2K. My personal opinion is that since you can nuy dual port print servers for $120.00 or less, why have the hassle?

I happened to be working on a Win200 machine today.

Under Network and Dial Up connections-> Advanced->Services (I think this is what I remember), I saw a setting for Unix printing.

Somewhere else today I saw a vague reference to having to install LPDSVC.

Possibly one of these relates to the other, but it's probably what you need.
