How to use Timer feature in a VB DLL to loop through

Hi,
I am trying to write a VB.NET DLL (Component) which should have a timer control in it and to keep in loop until either the time limit is met or the user has entered some keystrokes in a particular text box ... I don't know how to go about coding for this logic ...
Any help ... will be very thankful ...
