can someone tell me how to use the variable "
Request.ServerVariables("REMOTE_ADDR&quot"
and also tell me tha is this a VBscript variable or a variable of some other script?

This is a server variable. You can get this through using asp. Is this the case, are you using ASP I mean?
for instance
<% ip = Request.ServerVariables(&quot;REMOTE_ADDR&quot %>
ip has the value of the users IP address now
