How to use the Bulk Administration Tool or BAT in Cisco Unified Communications Manager 7.x to insert phones, The Quick and dirty way
The Bulk Administration Tool or BAT is a very powerful tool of Cisco Unified Communications Manager BAT it’s mainly use to insert users, phones, gateways, FAC, CMC, and others but it can also be use to update devices, users, phones, etc, BAT is use usually when you are trying bulk import certain devices, such as phones, users, etc especially during big phone deployments, please refer to cisco.com for a complete guide on how to use bat.
For the purposes of this document I will be “inserting” a Cisco 7941 IP phone that uses SCCP with one line, of course you will be able to “insert” more than one phone using this process and of course using the same csv file that I will be attaching to this document. Also the csv files that I will be using is a very simple one, but good enough to insert several hundreds of phones. Also follow this process carefully as you will be making “bulk” changes in a way.
Things to know:
Cisco Unified Communications Manager 7.x
Cisco IP Phone 7941
Before continuing I am assuming that you have a working dial plan with things like, partitions, calling search spaces, softkey (if any), etc and that you understand that this process will not associate phones with users, this process will only add phones
For the purposes of this document I will be using the following:
HQ_DP: Device Pool
HQ_Internal_PT : As my internal Partition
HQ_Device_CSS: As my global Configuration CSS
HQ_Line_FullAccess_CSS: As my CSS for the Line
HQ_MRGL: As my Media Resource Group List
HQ_LC: As my location
HQ_Device_CSS: As my Subscribe Calling Search Space
My DN will be 3000
