I am trying to understand how route filters work on CCM 4.1. I am currently using 9.@ as my only route pattern. I want to use a route filter to block 900,976,809 etc,

If I understand the Cisco documentation correctly, creating a route filter that says “area code = = 900”, then associating it with 9.@ will only allow calls to 900 numbers, basically the opposite of what I want to accomplish.

Can specific area codes be blocked using a route filter??

In your Route Pattern there is a button that says 'Block this Pattern' or something similar. Use your 9.@ and Route Filter, check the box, put in ANY Route List and you're done. :)
