hello,

I want to allert somebody if a scheduling action fails. The possibilities I know is by scheduling events and the processing ext.. By events its not possible in my case, because there are hundrets of reports, where event implementation is to much work.
The second kind, the processing extension, I belive is better to use. I've compiled the sample "simpleCLient.dll" and want to import that one into the APS and exactly there is the first problem..
How are processing extension DLL's to use ?? How can I notify the APS that a new processing extension DLL plugin is stored ?? (and how to store it ?-)
The second question if somebody knows.. Is it possible to determine the report scheduling state (OK/failed/..) at the scheduling triggered action ??

regards Andre, Berlin

Hi Andre,

You can save the compiled dll to the process extension folder like C:\Program Files\Crystal Decisions\WCS\ProcessExt. (It depends on how you install CE)

Then you can register the dll in CE CMC, remember only put the name like simpleClient, without path and file extension.

For the first question, I am working on a solution. The issue is there is no way to deternmine the status of an instance, retreat it a printer queue. Let's say, after you submit the job, you are done. The only way is you have to poll the status periodically.

My current way is using two jobs written in VB, one to schedule the batch reports, the other to query the status of the instance, in case any one instance failed, send out an email to sys admin.

What I am working on is to write a NT service, which monitors all the instance schedueling, and send out email when there is a failure. No job file is needed, you can schedule reports using CE event trigger feature.

Hope it helps.
Ben
