How to use guidelines in .NET crystal designer

I am trying to export data to excel for a mail merge and found out if I do not use the snap to grid and add guidelines it will insert blank columns and rows. Having found the solution to my major problem I then went to my Visual Studio solution, opened the report, and now I am unable to find out how to make guidelines appear that the datafields can snap to. Anyone able to help someone at their wit's end?
