how to use Dss? 1

ok i just got my new dss and the cords i need to hook it up and i got it numbered the way it should be, but for some reason it doesn't do nothing.for example i hit SA button and then i hit a button on teh dss that should be ext.144 and the dss does nothing.Did i do something wrong or is there something i have not programmed right.I have a Merlin Legend R7 V14.2 and am using a MLX-20L console phone,and i mainly use WinSPM for my programming.Can someone please help me figure this out. Thanks in Advance.

Did you renumber the pages on the DSS to match your dial plan? My guess is that you did not. Page 1 would have extensions 10 through 60. Each page goes in 50 extension increments. You need to renumber page 1 to match your 3-digit extension scheme - probably starting with 100 or whatever your lowest extension number is.

yes i have it numbered for page one but it still does nothing.What else can i try to get it working and does it require the MLX-20 to have all 8 wires because on it now is only four.

I have never tried running the 20L without all 4 pairs of wiring - so yes that could be the issue. Most people just run straight-thru Cat5e cable from all of the phone jacks back to the control unit.

Yes, you need the Brown pair connected for power.

You could also use an external power supply like the 1151A1 connected to your 20L - which would give the DSS the juice it needs.
