Currently I have a web page where I build a report dynamically and display it as a text item. I'd like to come up with a nice looking report using Crystal Reports, but everything I read seems to indicate that the data set needs to exist at design time. It doesn't - it only exists at run time because it's built on the fly based upon user selections. Am I misunderstanding the instructions? Is there a good book or web-site that can help me get this report build quickly and easily?

Hi,
Using the Crystal SDK and/or .NET assemblies it should be possible to create a Sql statement that could then be passed as a command object to a CR Object..Never tried, but seems feasable..

That's where I'm stuck... In order to design the report the data needs to exist. It doesn't exist at design time, only at run time.

Hi,
Design it using any Sql command object ( using the same datasource as needed in the actual report) and see if you can develop code to substitute your on-the-fly SQL at runtime.

See if any of these help:
