how to use a mapping varaible

I am using a mapping variable V_COUNT in a mapplet i want
it value to be 1 first time i run the session and on re-run it
should give 2 and so on..

when i set the default value to 1 for V_COUNT on re-run uit still shows 1 rather than 2
