how to use 7.3 cubes with Cognos 8 1

We do not use Cognos to drive our business but rather use it to deliver cubes to our customers. We just purchased Cognos 8 BI and I am trying to figure out how to use it. I have the suite up and running with the examples GOSL and GORT working for the go_sales_and_Retailers example. All that is fine and great but how do I upload cubes to this so I can allow our customers to collect them, is it even possible. We used to just publish them to Upfront but upfront is gone and I was told that the Cognos Connection portal replaces it but I cannot find any info on how to do this. Any help is greatly appreciated

Thank you very much for your reply. I do have one question about this method: We have hundreds of cubes already made and I was hoping I could dump them in a folder and allow access to them. It seems that I can no longer do this as it looks like I have to make a package for each one and then redifine every thing. Is this correct?

I would simply like to allow the user to use the cubes just as they are and still be able to let them use the dashboard etc... because if not then I dont see any advantage to using 8 bi

Hi prisockb,

With Cognos 8, each cube needs to be defined as a data source, then published in a package from Framework Manager. You can't do this en-masse from a folder (along the lines of what you used to be able to do in PPES).

The advantage to using Cognos 8 is that you can use your cubes in any studio - not just Analysis Studio - so you can use them for queries, reports, events etc as well as for analysis.
