Can someone tell me the steps to upgrade the firmware on a 9504 phone?

We bought 2 new 9504 phones, up to now we've had 5410 and 4406, so this is our first 9504. It shows "Please Wait," and Rel .27A, so I assume I need to upgrade firmware.

It's an IP500v1, running 8.1(52) with IP Office Manager 10.1

Possible steps:
1. In Preferences, turn on TFTP Server.
2. Is there a specific file I need to put in a certain directory?
What would be the name of that file and the directory?

3. Do I need to add a line in NoUser, Source Numbers, like previously:
Allow_5410_Upgrades ?

Anything else?

Or is it done differently now? What's a "Loader"

The technical bulletins list firmware, but don't provide any details on how to upgrade.

Thank you,
Bill

What software version is your IP500v2 on?

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

He posted "IP500v1, running 8.1(52) with IP Office Manager 10.1".[wink]
The problem is most likely that the upgrade files for the phone cannot be found on the http server so the phone just sit and wait until the software is found.
If you don't do something then it will stay like that forever.
Now, if you know the IP Address of the fileserver then open a browser on your PC and enter " address http server>/9500R44.bin", it should either ask to download the file or it says "404 not found" indicating the file is not there but the http server works or you get a error from the browser "page not found" or something similar to that.
What to do next?
Run Manager and in preferences enable the BOOTP/TFTP server, check if the default directory is set to C:\Program Files\Avaya\IP Office\Manager and in the IP Office set the tftp/http fileserver address to the same IP Address as the PC running Manager.
Now it should upgrade after a power cycle of the phone.

I did not have any coffee at the time.
You need a tftp server for the upgrade of digital phones.

That worked, thank you very much!

Thanks for the correct filename and location.
I put the file 9500R44 in the directory in Preferences shown as Working Directory.

I had created a directory for Backups, and put that as the Working Directory, because I wanted a specific directory for Backups, and that Working Directory is where it puts the backups.

Muchas Gracias,
Bill
