Dear all

I have existing windows server 2003 domain with no service pack installed, and its hardware configuration very old I’m planning to upgrade with new HP DL 380 and windows server 2003 R2

Please help me with step by step guide how can I proceed with smooth transfer in to new server without losing anything from old server we have almost 100 users in old DC and exchange 2003
Thanks

Oops, sorry that I missed that you have Exchange running. It isn't clear whether Exchange is on your DC or not. If it is, the above article assume no Exchange on the DC...

thanks for the reply

we have exchange server 2003 running on different machine and my existing domain have DHCP, DNS

Then you should be good to go using the above link as a guide. I have just done something similar - upgrading a domain from 2000 to 2003 then moving the FSMO roles, DNS and DHCP to the new 2003 server - using nearly the same steps.

One thing not covered is that you will have to point your Exchange Recipient Update Service to the new server once you've demoted the old.
