I have a partner silver remote access, upgrade, backup/restore card and would like to upgrade my acs 1.1 to 3.0.

I've tried to backup and the processor shows something like insert valid card??

Thanks.

Just having a used Upgrade/Backup/Restore/Remote Access card doesn't give you the upgrade function.

The card needs to be programmed with the upgrade file to take you to 3.0. Once that is done, you will insert the card, power on, and the upgrade will occur automatically. When the system reboots, you will have a 3.0, and you will leave the card in place to become your new Backup/Restore/Remote Access card.

Special software is needed to program the card, so you will need to contact an authorized Avaya Business Partner. A BP locater is linked from Avaya's home page,

I thought you can only upgrade to an R2 if you have an R1?
R3 is different hardware (so I thought for the last 9 years) or am I wrong?
please solve the mystery for me

R3 has a better power supply, but you can take a 1.1 all the way to a 6 if you want to.

Excellent, thanks a lot for the info TTT
another star for your huge collection
