Hello there,

I did duplicate a backup image on a disk storage unit, it appears like "client_idnumber_C2_F1". I am able to "tar -tvf" it and see the files in it, but I could not really extract the files using "tar -xvf". Several error messages appear (i.e. can't create / ...).

Does anybody have the exact command syntax to untar a backup image from disk ? If not, does anybody have the exact command syntax to easily extract a specific image from tape ?

thanks, marc.

Use the tar command that comes with NetBackup, not the one that comes with AIX: /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/tar.

There's a good reference to do exactly this at in the Administator's Guide - page 598 of the latest DataCenter Administrator's Guide.
