how to turn off automatic updates in win 98??

3 things to try:
-With your browser open, go to Tools/Internet Options/Advanced, and uncheck the box for 'Automatically Check For Internet Explorer Updates' under Browsing.
-Go to System Information/Tools/Update Wizard Uninstall, and remove the update that automatically notifies you of a Windows Update.
-Open Task Scheduler, and change the settings for Windows Update so that it is disabled.
