OK, I'm new to the web administration world, so bear with me. Is there a way to transfer digital certificates from one server to another?

I we are replacing an existing web server with another server. I need to have the certificates moved or copied from that server to the new server. Is there a way to do this without having to purchase new certificates?

Thank you for any help.

As long as the new server will use the same root URL (????.MySite.com), you should be able to do this. Verisign and the other CA's don't like you doing this (they'd rather sell you additional certificates).

If the URL changes, then you'll have to buy a new certificate. The certificate contains your URL. If it doesn't match the site it's loaded on the users will get a "Certificate doesn't match the site name" error/warning. I think it'll let them continue, but it does look bad/suspicious.
