Hi guys, this is my first time posting a thread here. Anyway, Im having trouble transferring my gropwise account and thier mail to a new server. Can you help me how to transfer their account?

I have configure another server with the same domain and POA account with my current server. I try to copy the wpdomain.db on my current mail server and transfer it to my newly installed mail server and restore their account the there was an error. It says that something like "the wpdomain.db is not part of the domain".

Can you help me how to transfer the groupwise account and their mails to my new server?

I hope you can help me.

You need to give more information. Like:

Are you trying to clone the system
Move the system to a new location or server
Are you moving users from one Post Office to another on the same system or trying to move a user to a Post Office on a different GW system.

Give us details like if it's a location change, hardware change, etc. And take your time, your taking some verbal shortcuts that really don't make sense. I apologize if English is NOT your first language.

Thank you for the reply guys. What would I like to do is to clone my system.

My problem is that my current hard drive is too small. 2x 73GB ( Raid 0 configuration ). We have a new server which has higher hard drive capacity than the current server. This is why I would like to move or copy the entire groupwise system to our new server.

Hope for your reply soon.

thanks

In a nutshell, but depending on the services running on the server:

- Copy the whole Domain directory & Structure
- Copy the whole Post Office directory and structure
- Ensure data is identical on source and destination
- Reconfigure startup files for new location
- Reconfigure GroupWise objects in ConsoleOne to accomodate any new IP addresses, paths, etc.
- Troubleshoot.

Its easy to do, not so easy to explain. When you get done, your mail system should be functional on the new box and it should be transparent to the end users that anything has changed.

If its ok with you, we will go on step-by-step process.Im not really that familiar with groupwise.

- Copy the whole Domain directory & Structure

* I try to copy my folder of my domain in my current server but there was an error.Cant copy the following files...

/wpgate/webac70a/COMINT.CFG
/wpgate/webac70a/COMMGR.CFG
/wpgate/gwia/defer/work/48B5981F

* need your advice about this problem

- Copy the whole Post Office directory and structure

* Copying of the post office directory is successful

- Ensure data is identical on source and destination

* I really dont understand what particular data you mean?

- Reconfigure startup files for new location

* I dont know how to do this

- Reconfigure GroupWise objects in ConsoleOne to accomodate any new IP addresses, paths, etc.

* This one also, i dont have any idea how to do this

- Troubleshoot.

Based on what you are saying, I believe you will be better off by finding a GroupWise consultant that can help you through this. It's a simple and not too lengthy process for someone that is well experienced. But in your case, it could easily turn into a nightmare since you do not have the experience with GroupWise. Save yourself some frustration, downtime, and dataloss by getting someone in there that can help..
