Well, if you are trying to transfer to some one else's voice mail, it's a piece of cake.
Either press FEATURE, and then DIRECT VM (Direct Voice Mail), or press your DIRECT VOICE MAIL BUTTON (Fea 56) and dial the extension.
However, if you are trying to transfer to your own voice mail box, I am sorry, but you are out of luck on anything less than a MAGIX 4.0 with the RECORD-A-CALL Feature.
I can see it now: "So dude, you're getting kinda boring and I've got some work to do. Mind if you finish your story in my voice mailbox?"
I assume that this is NOT typical of the way you handle calls. So please take my suggestion with a bit of sugar. I'm having fun.
In this rare case, pass your "friend" off to the operator. The caller will simply ask to be transferred to your extension. You can active Do Not Disturb or simply ignore the call (just as you were doing moments before) so that voicemail can pick it up.
Don't forget to resize your mailbox appropriately. You never know when such friends might need to leave a marathon message.
Well, you could be taking a call at a co-worker's phone, and need to send the caller to that co-worker's mailbox.
You want to run through a couple of hoops? While you're talking to the caller, put the phone in DND. Then transfer them to Voice Mail, like they were calling in to check messages. Don't hang up yet, when you get the prompt to enter your extension and # sign, dial *8 and the extension number, THEN hang up. Wait a couple of moments, and then take the phone out of DND.
