can anyone tell me is the best way to test IBM type 1 Cabling?

I used to have a couple of connectors terminated on RJ45 patch cords, then just used an all 4 tester ( @ pairs only) to test continuity

Type I and Type II. I haven't heard that ground hum in years.

(The impedance for ethernet UTP cabling (described as category 3, 4 or 5 cabling), according to the TIA/EIA-568-A specification for ethernet networks is 100 ohms. The impedance of IBM Cabling System Type 1 cabling is 150 ohms.)

I'd recommend:
Fluke Omniscanner 2 LAN Cable Analyzer to 300MHz Cat5/5E/6

You don't need to test something made by IBM, it tests you. They wrote the IEEE 802.5 specs.
