Hi
I have a few questions that are related to each other so I am listing them all in 1 thread... One is, from MOC can I navigate to a specific extension and see what type it is?
Can I copy one extension to another extension?
How can I convert an extesion let's say programmed for a DTERM Series E phone to an SP30 IP softphone?

A previous thread I had got a response saying to use command 14 to change the extension type but I looked at it and got a little confused and gave up. Now I am back at having a little time and decided to play with the system some more to see if I can figure things out.

I do have all the manuals but some things are hard to read... The NEC way I guess.

Thanks

I forgot to say I have a NEAX IPS 2000 system

The type of phone is a hardware issue, however you have to prefix a dterm extension number with an F. You can find the programming of numbers either in command 10 or command 14. 14 has to some extent superceeded 10 as it was necessary to introduce it to allow the IP side of the system to grow. Since you are talking about softphones you will need to learn Cmd 14 but it may be easier starting with command 10 as the LEN numbers match the hardware locations better Eg 000 to 063 are in PIM 0 then 100 to 163 are in pim one and so on. In command 14 you have to know the firmware processor number followed by the LEN number giving you a 5 digit number and as a Physical Firmware processor can control 2 pims the len numbers go from 000 to 127 for each FP. Just to confuse matters if you have an odd physical box and immediately after have a phantom box say for IP then the physical FP only controls the physical box and you have a phantom FP for the phantom box.

Confusing isn't it

So to convert a physical dterm to a soft phone you would need to delete it from the physical len and reprogramme it to a phantom but don't rush in to it as there is heaps of other things you will need to programme. Also have you got a spare licence for the new softphone?

Check out some of the other posts asking what is needed to get a new extension going and learn by varying a current phone to see if you have understood it.

Ther is no copy feature in MOC but there is in matworx.

Hope this helps.

Ozzie I never got to thank you for your reply... It was very helpful. I am finally getting the basic stuff.
NEC is definitely different.

Thanks again.

I'll be posting a few more questions so I'm sure I'll hear from you again.
