How to tell what tables SmartList is using?

This question has been asked here before, but unfortunately, the question was specific to a certain SmartList...

Is there a "generic" way to tell which tables a SmartList query is accessing?
 
The only thing I can think of is running SQL Profiler to get this information.

Yes... a little cumbersome, but... Funny that there's not more evident documentation on this.
