I've got a remote site Option 11C. There is a DC battery backup plant in place and I've received complaints the batteries are in need of service. Estimates for battery replacement are very high so I'm looking into use of a standard UPS as used at our other remote sites. I'm assuming this Option 11 is configured for DC power from a battery & rectifier setup.

Q. Is there a way to tell, via remote access, how an Option 11C takes its power (AC or DC)? I'm assuming it uses a different power supply card for AC vs DC.

Thanks in advance for the help.

they use the same power supply, with the batteries you'll have a cable that runs from the batteries into the power supply...

No.

But if someone is on site and can get you a part number, that would help.

NTAK04 = AC/DC
NTAK05 = DC ONLY
NTDK78 = AC/DC

The ones listed as AC/DC are 'supposed" to be used primarily as AC input. If you connect batteries to it using a special cable, the batteries will be trickle charged. Then when the power goes out the batteries (or other source) take over.

you can still use ups battries, the main concern is if you need 48 volts dc out or 120 ac.. they did make true 48 volt dc power supplies for the opt 11, they were rare. fastest way is to trace the power imput cable from the bottom of the ps itself.. usually it's a standard pc type power cord.. they shipped a label for the units to distinguish it as dc imput only..
