I have an Acer notebook running XP SP-3. On it is a sticker saying ÄMD Turion 64. Does this mean that my notebook is running an 64-bit system?

In any case how can I tell if I'm running on a 32 or 65-bit system?

As always thank you.

To find out if your computer is running 32-bit or 64-bit Windows, do the following:

1.Open System by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking System.

2.Under System, you can view the system type."

32-bit and 64-bit Windows: frequently asked questions

If you have this location C:\Windows\SysWOW64 then that is a pretty good indication that it is 64-bit.

When you start up windows, if it is running 64-bit it will say Windows XP 64-bit Edition.

If your system is already started, right click on "My Computer", select Properties. Under System, it will tell you whether or not it is the 64 bit edition.

Alternatively, pop up a cmd prompt and type set. If you see ProgramFiles(x86) it is 64 bit.

Do not expect Windows XP 64 bit edition to run any any laptop.
That is something you only wish to your worst enemies.

Depending on the BIOS CPU-enablements and capabilities, the system could be 64 bit capable, as the CPU is created for it, but if it older then a few months, don't bother, get a new laptop.
