I am trying to work with my carrier to identify some sporadic PRI issues I've had the last few weeks. The carrier has asked me to confirm if B-channel messaging is on or off? Where would this configuration setting be located? Don't think I've ever been asked this before.

Thanks
Tom

they didn't mean dch messaging?? usually required by MCI or you get MBSY on your channels

if they didn't mean Dch, prt a TN of your PRI in ld 11, you will see your signaling STRI/STRO setup

Here is one of the B-channels. STRI/STRO both set to OWK. Would you consider this to be "ON" then?

He may have left out service (B channel service messaging) if they have it turned on you will need to enable it.

Are we talking messaging or signaling??? the trunks have to have some type of signaling no matter what, so it seems they mean messaging and you would stat in 96 as JP said, are they asking your signaling type?? loop or ground or what???

Mato' Was'aka

you can enl msgi/msgo x on the d in 96 to see msgs between you and the provider.. but serv msgs are off by default

enl serv x on the d in 96

Thanks for the info, Yes, I am aware of the D-channel messaging and how to enable and disable. The telco is asking if I have B-channel service messaging on or off. That one has me scratching my head.

Thanks
Tom

in ld 60 do your channels say IDLE BUSY UNEQ DSBL MBSY ?? I don't know what terminology they think they are using, but I would tell them yes it is.

Mato' Was'aka

What they are talking about is BSRV. Which is the same as DCH Messaging, but at the BCH level. This way the B-Channels are always in synch. Look at your D-Channel config and see if BSRV is yes or not. It defaults to No. If your provider has it enabled you will have to out trunks and routes to implement.

Dwayne

damn, right there it was in 17

- - BSRV (NO) YES B channel Service messaging.

Mato' Was'aka

After you make the change make sure when you bring DCH's back up to do a FDL.
