when we went to 8.0, some users got additional access that I did not want them to have in the navigation pane.

I thought I had taken things away, but in the financial lists area there is a 'list'/window that is called 'Account Transactions' that I want to take away (ok - so Management thinks that certain users should not have it - which is fine), but I can not find that name in the list of windows --- the others were easy, but this one has me perplexed --- ideas?

can you tell us exactly what the window name of the "list"/window is?

and they wonder why they call it Great Pains!

ok - let's start from scratch

With 8.0 (on the left side of the screen out of the box) you get the shorcuts menu and at the bottom of the 'Navigation Pane' you have LISTS (Financial, Sales, Purchasing...).

TO make sure that a user does not have access to the information on one of the 'lists' you actually have to go into security and take away that Window. By default the user gets three lists 'Accounts', 'Account Transactions' and 'Checkbooks'. Which window name these are is the basic question since if you scroll through the list, picking out just these three (for example) is impossible.

I especially liked (by default) giving these (and the payroll ones) lists to users that do not have access to the data / windows in 7.5 --- ah well

Ideas of which windows get turned off (since for some classes I can not just turn off all windows unfortunatly)

Have a look at my FAQ on hiding lists in v8.0. Basically you need to remove access from all the window that can display the same data.
