Hi,
How do I stop users getting access to Task Manager by hitting Control-F1 (the default) to pass Ctrl-Alt-Del to the metaframe server? I do not want to have to visit each user PC and change the hotkeys. In general, I do not want users to have access to any of the hotkey related stuff (task list, etc).

Task Manager, etc, can be switched off from users' profiles using a system policy - the options are under Windows NT System.

To actually change hotkey settings is a client change, however. You could implement this by creating custom *.ini (*.src) files and then use the Client Update Configuration tool to "upgrade" the clients from there. You would have to set the Update tool so that it updates any client version.

Hope this helps

We want to stop users doing it, but leave all remote administrators alone. We cannot use Client Update because users have different key mapping requirements, and also, because clients can change it.

The policy setting will grey out the Task Manager (and other selected options) from the pop-up that appears when they press [Ctrl]+[F1], so the users can't click on them.

Hope this helps

What you mean to say is that you have to group your users accordingly, then in poledit delete the default policies (computer and default users) assign the group/groups to a new policy, then edit the groups in the policy to reflect your requirements. Save the policy and copy it to the netlogon share on the Primary Domain Controller ensuring that the name of the file saved is called NTCONFIG.POL

No. I assumed you knew that bit already. It's always difficult judging the technical levels of people who post here, so I always assume MSCE or better (CCA!). No offence meant.

It looks like you didn't know that you could switch this off using policies. You could disable it altogether, using a run only allowed applications policy, but client hotkey mapping is done within the client.

HTH :)
