how to stop user changing pages without saving

Hi, I would like your opinion on the following matter:

What would be the best way of stopping a user from changing pages without saving all the details within that page first?

Im thinking of having a confomation box to ask the user if they want to swap pages without saving, but not exactly sure how to go about checking to see if all the details entered have been saved

You'll have to use JavaScript. Check all the form variables when the page loads and then see if any of them have changed before they leave. It's not 100% accurate though and I wouldn't rely on it.
