Hello friends,

Is there any way to disable IE from auto-replacing custom desktop icons (of web sites only) with the proprietary icons from the sites?

Example: I put a custom icon on a website shortcut icon. Then the next time that site is visited, the custom icon is replaced with the commercial one. Annoying.

TIA

Where are you storing the custom icons. It's probably not pertinant, but I put all my custom icons in a icon directory in my home directory. I don't get the problem.

Thanks for your response, ASG0856.

Like you, my custom icons are in a special directory used only for that.

My guess is that IE somehow permits or denies web sites to inflict their own icons on us (maybe with cookies). I have searched for such a setting, and can't find one.
