Under the view menu you have 'Grid/Snap to grid'; 'Guides/snap to guides'; and Snap to objects [under the main view menu]. Un check all the snaps and that should sort it. Also, there's the magnet icon on the tool bar, this is the 'snap to objects' quick button.

What version of flash are you using...? I have had the same problem before with flash 5, snapping to everything when all the snaps are off. Not had it with MX yet.

One thing to get round this problem would be to place them away so they don't snap then use the arrow keys to nudge the lines to the position you desire. This way you kinda by pass the the snap.

Not a great fix but at least it wil do for now eh...? funkymonk B-)

i'm using mx too. i tried nudging, but they still jump when about 2 or 3 pixels away. the only thing that half-works is to make the lines cross by a large margin, then delete the extra edges. i can't believe this is a "feature" >_<

Do you have 'snap to pixels' on? This is a new feature of MX so could be something that was over looked. funkymonk B-)

nope, turned that off. guess it's just a quirk i'm gonna have to live with

I just posted on the Macromedia forum about this. When/if I get a reply of any use I'll post it here. funkymonk B-)

thanks, would save a few bashes of my head into the wall =P

Well the only reply I've had so far told me to do something I said I'd done. Oh well, looks like bashing your head against the wall may be the only option for now but don't bash it too hard yet, there may still be an answer [hourglass] funkymonk B-)

Well, the feedback I got from Macromedia's Flash forum was no different than what you got here I'm affraid. All I can suggest is that you run through the checks again, prefferences, snap's etc. and see if you have missed something. Apparently this is the first time it's been heard of in Macromedia's forum but it was only one person who answered....

Sorry mate, looks like a head bashing you will go heheheh....

Good luck. funkymonk B-)

ok, this is weird. i tried the same thing in my flash 5, and it doesn't do it. guess it must be a setting. the hunt continues...

oops...i was wrong. it seems to only do it if i use a "hairline"

So do you have it sorted then...? funkymonk B-)

nah, i thought i did. it only does when i have line thickness set to hairline

Hmmm, that sounds weird, hairline is what I use 90% of the time if not more. I'll have to keep an eye on it when I'm working in flash. If it happens and I manage to sort it I'll post the sollution here.
