How to stop flash ads from playing/looping

Hey,

anyone has an idea if there is a plug-in or app that woul dlet me control (or at least stop) flash banners from playing and/or looping when I want?

The thing is - with animated gifs you can stop them with the stop button of the browser -not so with Flash... and sometimes I need peace in my window to be able to read something....
