When I apply interior color fill to a cell it overrides the faint gray grid lines surrounding the cell so I "Format > Cells > Border" and replace the border but I can't seem to replicate the border to it's original faint gray state.

Is there a way to fill interior color without destroying the cell border or a way to replace the border to it's original state?

Thanks in advance

Sam

Hi,

In addition to the interior shade, also format borders.

I do "Format > Cells > Border" but can't seem to duplicate the original faint gray dotted line. I can come close to the original but not exactly the way it was.

I used Hairline, 25% Gray, Inside, Outline.

Thanks Skip

I got it to work buy using the "draw border" method using the 25% gray (that was the key).

When using ["Format > Cells > Border" method I end up with black border no matter how hard I click 25% gray color swatch plus the preset "inside" is grayed out.

Looks like the gridlines are black (automatic), but the colour can be changed for specific window to any other (Tools>Options>Viwe, window options).

Thanks for pointing out the window options combo

On my monitor my complete grid looks like 25% gray as Skip pointed out.

The cell that I intentionally made 25% gray with "draw border" method matched perfectly on the monitor to the rest of the grid and it prints gray as I expected it would while the rest of the grid prints black.

<Skip, I forgot to switch it off, now it should be ok.>[bat]
