Hi all,

I have a user that somehow managed to set his phone to automatically answer incoming internal phone calls. If I dial his extension or a hunt group he is in, it will ring once and then go right to his speaker phone. So I can hear him typing away and have to announce that I'm on the phone.

Any thoughts on how to turn this "feature" off?

Thank you so much!

Its called (no surprise) "Internal Auto Answer" or "Handsfree Answer".

How it got switched on depends on what type of phone. On the older types of 44XX/46XX and the 64XX its the first option in the menu after the user presses MENU. Press MENU and look for HfAns. Press this to toggle it on/off.

On others you first need to program a button to the action Internal Auto Answer (Emulation | Internal Auto Answer).

In some rare cases it can be enabled by a strange (working from dodgy memory here) CW short code on the User | Short Code tab in Manager. Its a code Avaya use to have phones automatically answer calls when doing large scale load tests.

that feature is HFAns (handsfree answer) and it is located on a softkey. When set there will be a diamond either on top or to the side depending on the phone type.

Ahh, that was it! This was a 4412D phone so you were both right on. Thank you so much! I love easy fixes. :)
