What is the correct way of starting the samba service? How do both commands differ?

/usr/sbin/smbd -D
/usr/sbin/nmbd -D

or..

/etc/rc.d/init.d/smb start

Adam

/usr/sbin/smbd -D
Starts the server to provide SMB/CIFS services to clients

/usr/sbin/nmbd -D
Starts the NetBIOS name server to provide NetBIOS over IP naming services to clients

smb start
simply starts both of them, either way works
