Hi All,
I need some help in building a cube in SQL server.
Can someone direct me to a useful tutorial?
Thanks in advance
Ris

Not sure about tutorials, but there are some good words in Books On-Line and there is a wizard to create the cube, so it isn't too difficult.....

....the difficulty is probably in deciding what data to put in it and how to dimension it. [sig]<p> <br><a href=mailto: > </a><br><a href= home</a><br> [/sig]

The OLAP Manager Tutorial that is installed with OLAP gives a fairly good overview of the physical cube creation process. If you are looking for more detail on design, take a look at 'Microsoft OLAP Unleashed' ISBN 0-672-31671-4.

hi all

Im concerning with olap and need some detailed knowledge ( doc, books etc.)on multidimensional cubes(hyper cubes and their architect, building and relations)

can you help me these matters.

I have found the best book to be:
&quot;A practical guide to Microsoft OLAP server by John Shumate, ISBN: 0-201-48557-5&quot; - About 30 quid or so, but worth it.

Rgds,

Fiona.

If you are interested in basic information on OLAP it may be worthwhile to look into SimpleOLAP,
SimpleOLAP is an application based on MS Access 2000 covering the whole process starting from reading files of operational systems, creating data marts, building cubes including cube formulas to analysing (Excel 2000 and ProClarity 3.0 as OLAP clients). If you use Windows 98, SimpleOLAP will build and analyse local cubes for you.
