We have DB2 V7.2 FP7 admin and development clients installed on Solaris and HPUX. But whenever I tried to use "db2" command it would give me DB2INSTANCE not found error (-1390).

"SQL10007N Message 1390 could not be retrieved..."

So how do I specify DB2INSTANCE when I only have the clients? Thank you!

Regards, Nancy

Hi Nancy, first of all, has an actual Client instance been created or was the DB2 system software merely loaded on the machine? Assuming an instance was actually created,
it sounds like the userid you are using to connect to DB2 with is not sourcing /db2instancename/sqllib/db2profile.
Can you check this in your .login or .profile? This should be run to set your DB2INSTANCE envinronment variable, among others. Hope this helps!
