how to sort rows in cross-tab

can.. anybody suggest me how to sort the rows in cross tab report......in my sql query I am passing order by but it's not giving any results....I got one reply from Mr. Ken. Thanks a lot Ken your suggestion worked but by using your method I am making four reports with different sorting order in group by and then calling one report as required by the user. I can't pass any parameter to the report. I can only get order by in sql string. Could anybody else help me out in writing a formula to use different sorting orders in the cross-tab report
