How to sort records in a cross tab

Sort the records in the report using:
Report->Sort Records.
In the cross-tab:
Right click the cross-tab and select format cross-tab->select the column or row field of interest and select Group Options.
If your requirements differ from this, please provide version info, example data and expected output.
