How to sort record

I would like for my record A letter followed by a number to appear first and if the field contains more than one letter then it will be sorted right after i finish sorting the one with only one letter and follwed by a number.My field type is a string and i am trying to do this using crystal report 8.5. please help i am fairly new to cr and i do not know where to put the formula for this.i would like for my record to appear like the bottom one. if someone can save my life i am greatly appreciate the help. thank you

I responded to your other post, but forgot to mention that you should then go to report->sort fields and use the formula I suggested as your sort formula. You can use your original ID field for display in your report.

i do not see any any link from report to sort field.probably you are using different version of CR. i am using CR 8.5
 
If you look in the toolbar at the top, you will see "Report". In the dropdown for "Report" is "Sort Records". Click on this and then move the formula from the list on the left to the right.
